We work hard and are told to save save save for retirement, and then what? For me my vision of retirement was the typical beach scene with turquoise water and white sandy beaches laying in a hammock with a coconut cool drink.

Oops reality check. How long can a person do that till you say “okay this is nice but now what”. For me I had stumbled on a dilemma to which I had really not given much thought. Doing nothing was no fun. If the idea is to drink all day and relax, that simply just doesnt do it for me.

What’s really not discussed much with regard to retirement is the need for self fufillment. That’s going to be different for everyone, but for me it was about learning, discovering, exporing, and testing new ideas. Shazam I just discovered the whole new paradim of retirement, it’s all about finding out your passions and creating a whole new way of life, not just sitting around on bar stool and complaining about ones life all day.

The model that most of us are on is the requirement to work for someone else for our basic survival needs and in the iterum make that company prosper and succeed. After that term is up we get a nice departing token gift / award for our dedicated contribution, and say goodbye to all those golden treasured business relationships. We’ve just spent all our precious time laying the foundation for a successful company to later be all thrown away.

In retirement [to which i prefer to call rejoyment], one is basically starting all over again laying that foundation for a successful business. Given working in retirement is your choice of course. It all can be done, but what a sensation to use your own creative brain and carve your own path instead of being told what to do everyday and how to do it. Pew. For a retirement preperation, I’d like to tell people to prepare themselves to decide on what they’d like to do and how to do it. Many of us don’t have a plan let alone any sort of direction and that’s okay. Now is the time to write it down. I have a section in my phone labeled ideas, where i’m always writing down new ideas and thoughts.

Now comes the fun part, how? How can I do it, which in short is the interlude for hello Youtube University. Good greif one can litterly learn anything on youtube. I’m very proud to say that I built 2 e-commerce websites on my own with no background knowledge what so ever in computer science. I guess the other beauty of retirement is the abundance of time. Smirk. Through my restaurant review travels, one of my standard questions is ” how did you learn about cooking”? And shockingly I get maybe about 30% of the people who say YouTube; adding, their dishes are award winning works of art and flavorful.

Write down your idea, study youtube, and do it. Using ones who brain for once has got to be one of the most liberating experiences. Hello rejoyment!
